High School Lit Club

The Lit Club is a teen-led book club designed for high schoolers (9th–12th grade) who love to read—or want to read more—and connect with others. Sponsored by Heritage Homeschoolers but open to all teens, Lit Club blends meaningful literary discussion with a strong emphasis on friendship and fun.

What We Do:

Lit Club meets monthly, with a strong preference for in-person gatherings at community spots like parks, libraries, coffee shops, homes, and independent bookstores. Occasionally, meetings will be held via Zoom to provide flexibility and accessibility for all members.

Each meeting is led by a teen club member, who selects that month’s book, prepares discussion questions, and curates relevant media like author interviews or historical context videos. Teens take turns leading, which helps build communication skills, confidence, and ownership of the group. A parent sponsor is present at each meeting to provide light guidance and support, but this club belongs to the students.

Leadership & Engagement:

Lit Club is designed to empower teens to lead. By rotating leadership responsibilities, students gain experience in planning, public speaking, and group facilitation. Each book discussion invites critical thinking and connection—linking literature to real-life themes, history, and cultural awareness.

We also recognize that teens join book club for more than just books—so we include optional social activities after some of our meetings. These relaxed hangouts might include picnics, board games, book browsing, or shared meals—simple, joyful ways to build community.

Membership & Pricing:

Lit Club is free for members of Heritage Homeschoolers. High school students (grades 9–12) from outside of Heritage are welcome to join for a $25 annual participation fee, which supports planning, snacks, and facilitation throughout the year. Non-members will receive a payment link after submitting the teen interest form below.

Whether your teen is an avid reader or just discovering the joy of books, Lit Club offers a welcoming space to grow, connect, and lead.
